This position will require a deep expertise in compiler design, particularly with the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC). Partnering closely with our development team and management to enhance the performance and compatibility of our codebase to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality. This position can be Part-time Contractor or Full-Time Salaried position.What You Will Do

  • Improve the efficiency of code generation and optimize compilation processes for various architectures.
  • Design, implement, and optimize compiler features using the GNU GCC framework.
  • Analyze and optimize code for performance, ensuring that compiled software runs efficiently on target platforms.
  • Work closely with software engineers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and performance of the compiler in the software development pipeline.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for compiler features, optimization strategies, and toolchain configurations.
  • Identify and debug various issues while continuously contributing to the ongoing development of the compiler.
  • Attend software/test meetings and lead GCC triage meetings on a weekly basis.What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in compiler development with a strong focus on GNU GCC within a Linux environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of compiler theory, code generation, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with low-level programming languages such as C, C++, and assembly language.
  • Familiarity with various processor architectures (e.g., x86, ARM, RISC-V) and their corresponding toolchains.
  • Familiarity with PDP-10 (36-bit word-oriented processor) highly preferred.
  • Ability to adapt and pivot quickly, working with a sense of urgency to address immediate action items.
